The Dubai International Airport is spans 3100 acres of land located in Al Garhoud district, about 4.6 km (2.1 miles) east of Dubai. It has been acclaimed as the World's busiest airport by international passenger traffic, World's third busiest airport by passenger traffic, World's sixth busiest airport by cargo traffic and the airport with the highest average number of passengers per flight. It handles over 80 million passengers and about 2.5 million metric tonnes of cargo in a year.

TERMINALS

Dubai International Airport has a total of three terminals (labelled 1, 2, and 3) and four concourses (labelled A, B, C and D). The 1 and 3 terminals are directly connected by the Airside and have a common transit area for airside passengers. An airport shuttle service takes passengers from one terminal to another while an automated people mover connects concourse A to the other terminals.

Terminal 1: this is the main terminal, it can handle 18 million passengers and it's connected to concourse D via an automated people mover. This terminal has a total of 28 gates and primarily serves international passengers.

Terminal 3: this is the second largest building in the world by floor space. It has three concourses, labelled A, B and C and can handle about 65 million passengers in a year. This terminal has a total of 180 check-in counters and 2600 car parking spaces. It has a baggage handling system that efficiently handles 8000 bags in an hour.
