Visit one of Germany's most atmospheric Christmas markets traditionally nestled under the towering 1000 year old Mainz Cathedral. Hear about old German Christmas customs while strolling around the festive stalls that sell everything from the famous hand-crafted wooden Christmas tree decorations, nativity scenes and candle arches, angelic figurines from the romantic little town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, authentic Christmas nutcrackers from the Erzgebirge to traditional gingerbread men and fruity stollen loaves. Experience the aromatic smells of spices, roasted nuts and the typical waft of the Glühwein pervading the winter air. Included in the price is a glass of warming red or white mulled wine or one of the tasty non-alcoholic alternatives.
This year, due to COVID, the Christmas Market will take place not only in the main Market Square but also at several other atmospheric locations around the city giving you a unique chance to see even more of this beautiful city.
