Overview
This museum is renowned worldwide for its archaeological artifacts, ranging from Roman-Greco antiquities to objects from Pompeii, Stabiae, Herculaneum and other sites of Campania.
The guided tour takes two hours; you will have the opportunity to explore the Farnese Collection donated by Charles of Bourbon that holds many sculptures and jewels from the Baths of Caracalla in Rome.
You cannot miss out on admiring the frescoes and mosaics originating from Herculaneum, Pompeii and Stabiae which were buried due to Mount Vesuvius' eruption in 79 AD.
Additional collections include those from the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, Temple of Isis in Pompeii and an Egyptian collection. Before leaving make sure not to forget about visiting the glass collection where you can find a beautiful piece named Blue Vase coming from Pompeii.
