Mikumi National Park located at the north bordered to the south with the Selous Game Reserve. Mikumi National Park covers an area of 3230 km² hence is the fifth largest in the country. Mikumi is a very short safari from Dar es Salaam, approximately 5hrs by vehicle from Dar es salaam. It is one of the most frequently visited National Parks in Tanzania. Mikumi National Park surrounded by open grasslands and mountain ranges hosts’ small and large mammals including variety of birds species and reptiles. Mikumi is a home of Elephants, Lions, Wild dogs, Zebras, Hyena, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Eland, Hartebeest, Baboons, Hippos and Crocodiles.
Dry Season: June – Mid November: Best time for game viewing. December – February: Humid & Hot: Good time for game viewing.
Rain Season: Mid November – Mid December: Short Rain : Wonderful for bird life and lush scenery. April – May: Heavy rain: Wonderful for bird life and lush scenery.
