Kizhi is an island in Lake Onega, 68 km from the capital of Karelia, Petrozavodsk. The length of the island is 5.5 km.
There is a museum of traditional peasant culture of the Russian North on the island, one of the largest and most famous open-air museum reserves in Russia. You'll see architectural monuments, icon paintings and household items that have been created in Karelian, Veps and Russian villages for centuries.
