Overview
La Victoria is one of the largest and oldest coffee farms in northern Colombia. It was founded in 1892 by Charles and Alice Bowden, a couple of English businessmen who came to the country to work on the construction of the railways. The property originally extended over 1223 hectares, in an area that was inhabited, centuries ago, by communities of the Tayrona indigenous civilization. In addition to producing premium organic coffee, La Victoria is the headquarters of Nevada, a small brewery that makes craft beer using pure Sierra water. From its earliest years, La Victoria limited the extension of coffee crops in order to preserve its ecosystems and its exceptional wildlife. Currently, more than 80% of its 500 total hectares are protected as part of a nature reserve, making La Victoria a top-notch destination for nature lovers and particularly for bird watching in Colombia.
