Overview

    Chapelco is a rock massif stretching for more than 20 km from San Martin de los Andes to Meliquina Lake. It has a volcanic origin, made of basaltic rocks that were later carved by the action of the glaciers. We will trek from 1.200 to 1.800 m reaching the upper story of the Patagonian forest and the high-Andean grasslands. There we will enjoy amazing views and have good opportunities for high Andes endemic species.

    TARGET SPECIES: Andean Condor, White-throated Caracara, White-throated Hawk, Magellanic woodpecker, Austral Parakeet, Chucao Tapaculo, Black-throated Huet-Huet, Des Mur’s Wiretail, Patagonian sierra-finch, Dark-bellied Cinclodes, White-bellied Seedsnipe, Least Seedsnipe, Yellow-bridled Finch, Plumbeous Sierra-Finch, Rufous-banded Miner, White-browed Ground-Tyrant, Ochre-naped Ground-Tyrant, Dark-faced Ground-Tyrant.
