Duration

clock2 hours 30 minutes

Overview

Join us for a multi-sensory experience celebrating the diverse and vibrant heritage of the Stratford Road. Immerse yourself in true stories hidden inside abandoned Irish pubs and woven into the Asian fabric shops.

The Stratford Road in Sparkhill has seen many migrants settle along it. From the Irish to the Somalian community; their memories will be brought to life by our friendly walk leaders who will talk through the road's changing scene.

You will start at The Bordesley Centre and make your way past the aromatic bakeries serving Arabian sweet tea whilst enjoying freshly made Yemeni bread. Learn about the famous Balti triangle as you venture through the bustling and lively atmosphere boasting numerous Pakistani and Indian grocers, fashion retailers, food stalls and more. You may wish to purchase a souvenir from Gohil's Emporium which has been on the Stratford Road for over 40 years. We'll end with a hot cup of Karak Chai!
