The city of Cartagena is located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, was founded in 1533 by the Spanish Pedro de Heredia. Because of its architectural heritage and its geographical location, it is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the new world.
The neighborhoods, houses, churches and other buildings that played an important role and housed fundamental characters in the history of Colombia also function today as residences, museums, religious sites, and cultural centers. Cartagena de Indias also has a very important modern part that includes last generation buildings in neighborhoods like Castillo Grande and La Matuna among others. Besides having a tourist and commercial port, innumerable hotels and places of entertainment that make it, not only one of the most important cities of the country but also one of the historical patrimony of the humanity declared by the UNESCO in 1984.
