Pass by Bogota and visit Chingaza National Park, located in the Eastern Hills of the Colombian Andes. This park is a natural and cultural treasure, its mountains hold secrets passed down from the Muiscas and Guayupes indigenous peoples who guarded this territory as well as from peasant communities that inhabited this region less than 40 years ago. Today it is a refuge for fauna and flora of the Andes which reveals life's secret to visitors. It was created in May 1977, has an area of 76,600 hectares with heights ranging between 800 and 4,050 meters above sea level; climates range from warm to cold with various ecosystems such as wetlands, forests and humid woods. Temperatures vary between 4°C to 21.5°C. The rivers Guatiquía and Frío are born here with abundant rains creating lakes such as Siecha y Chingaza. Upon arrival a local guide will be waiting for us taking us through trails of this paradise; the tour lasts 3-6 hours depending on your stamina.
