Overview

Just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, fifth-generation sheep rancher Bill Jensen guides recalcitrant lambs through a foot bath. A few miles down the road, Bob Giacomini checks out his high-tech milking barn where 480 cows are each milked 3 times a day. Bill and Bob are part of a rich agricultural region of dairy farmers, cattle and sheep ranchers and oyster growers in West Marin County. Once slated for development with major highways, airports and subdivisions this rural paradise, so close to a major city, was permanently preserved as farms and agricultural open space. A lot of the credit goes to two women who came up with a unique idea...

This driving audio tour takes you on a 21-mile journey from Point Reyes National Seashore headquarters, up Route One, to the village of Tomales. Using the Voicemap app, the tour uses your location to trigger each part of our story automatically. So you can just relax and enjoy the view.
