Gohei-mochi is a local cuisine that comes to the Chubu region such as Nagano and Gifu prefectures. It became famous by being featured in the NHK morning TV series “Half Blue” in 2018. In Gifu Prefecture, it was transmitted to the Hida and Tono regions. The shape and sauce varies depending on the region, and the Hida region is “waraji-shape(oval)” and “egoma-sesame-sauce” is the mainstream. It is said that the boiled rice is crushed and skewered, and then painted with egoma sauce and charcoal-grilled. It was dedicated to festivals and celebrations during the Edo period.
