Kayaking Bangkok's Old Klongs (Morning)

Duration

clock5 hours

Overview

Be picked up at 07:30. Before Bangkok grew into the large cosmopolitan city that can be seen today the majority of people lived alongside the Chao Phraya River and amongst the intricate network of canals, known locally as ‘klongs’, that fed into the river. These klongs were the main form of transport and gave the city its nickname: ‘Venice of the East’. Many of the houses on these klongs were built on stilts over the water - some of which can still be seen today.

Have a unique experience of these klongs on a guided kayaking tour. You will kayak yourself starting from a local lotus pond, travel through the waterways past old communities and temples. Stop to visit a 200-year-old community before paddling past some of Bangkok's oldest wooden houses.

At the end of the tour get the opportunity to freshen up and change before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant.
