Overview
The National Museum of Capodimonte, which first opened its doors in 1957 in Naples, houses valuable works of Italian art and is particularly renowned for the major exponents of painting from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. After crucial renovations completed in 1995, it resumed its original layout based on that of the Farnese collection belonging to King Charles I of Bourbon; thus, it now regularly hosts major exhibitions.
Notable works include those by Caravaggio, Andy Warhol, Baroque painters, Renaissance artists, modernists such as Raffaello and royal palace pieces.
