Overview

The author of the Mausoleum, famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, was inspired by antique shrines - the fist part of mausoleum consists of the atrium of black marble with symbolic well in the middle, with 2 giant caryatides dressed in the national costume of Montenegro. Huge Njegos statue with an eagle at his back is in the central part of the mausoleum, besides it is a small crypt with Njegos's grave. On the other side is the path leading to a round viewpoint with one of the best views in this part of the world.
