Overview

In this private cultural experience (no groups!), we will explore Tlaquepaque and Tonala, two artisan communities that produce the greatest variety of handcrafts in Mexico.

Get ready to admire old plazas and picturesque streets with charming pedestrian corridors and colorful markets.

In the working-class barrio of Tonalá -home to affordable goods such as pottery, blown glass, ironwork, wooden furniture and textiles- we will go behind the scenes to a family-owned workshop to observe the most refined ceramic techniques. We will also visit the municipal market to admire the local crafts and food products.

After a 20 minute drive, we will continue with a walk in Tlaquepaque’s Cultural Corridor: a charming street lined up with tens of boutiques, museums and art galleries.

Lastly, we will taste the local cuisine as we listen to live mariachi music and drink tequila cocktails at El Parian. As we explore both towns, you will gain a deeper understanding of Mexico's artistic tradition.
