With views of retro scenes from the past, Kiyosumi-shirakawa has become an area where up-coming artists have found opportunities to display their art in shops and galleries. Kiyosumi-shirakawa used to be the center of water transport, and therefore there are a number of warehouses that remain in this area.
These warehouses have been renovated to be used as gallery spaces and shops, due to their excellent attributes for displaying large pieces of art work; high ceilings and wide open spaces with no obstructing pillars. The artists themselves often work in the galleries and shops, so, if you like, you can ask them about their work in person.
