An hour away from the center of Sendai, Miyagi, Sakunami Onsen Village is surrounded by greenery and crystal clear streams.
It’s been said that since the 1200s, samurais soaked in the onsens to heal their battle fatigue. Watching the clear streams while taking an outdoor bath will release all the stress from your trip. Don't worry, if you are not fond of onsens, there are also ”footbaths”.
Sakunami is also known for whisky: visit the distillery, taste the whisky, and trace the founder's passion.
The area is famous for Sakunami “Kokeshi” (a traditional folk art doll), locally loved sweet shops, and rich forests that spread throughout the tour.
