Overview

    During the morning you will be transferred to the imposing fortress of Kuelap, the main archaeological site of the region built by the Chachapoyas culture around the year 500a.d. It has 505 enclosures in its interior distributed in diverse levels; its imposing walls are 600 meters long and its interior architecture shows its function as a formerly inhabited space. The fortress is located at 3000masl and to reach it, you will be transported in a modern cable car that will take you to the complex in just 20 minutes. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Leymebamba to visit the Leymebamba Museum which houses more than 200 mummies recovered from the Condor Lagoon, which can be appreciated along with their funeral offerings. The design of the building recreates the local architecture, using local materials. The beautiful garden surrounding the museum contains more than 100 varieties of orchids. After this visit you will return to Chachapoyas.
