What To Expect

Depart your Naples accommodation in the morning for an all-day excursion. As you travel via private minivan, take in the picturesque sights around Mt Vesuvius, up into the mountains of Partenio Regional Park, and down through Avellino valley — the capital city of Campania.

Next stop is Monti Picentini Regional Park and Volturara Irpina — a quaint town located at the base of Mt Terminio towering 2,000 meters (6,562 feet) above sea level. It's here where you'll find some of Italy's most sought after truffles.

Join a truffle expert and their Lagotto Romagnolo hunting dogs — a breed known for its keen sense of smell used specifically to search for truffles. Once you've gathered your equipment, embark on an easy hike up 1,400 meters (4,593 feet). Although suitable for all levels of fitness and abilities, it is recommended to wear appropriate footwear.

Observe as the canines do their thing sniffing out these underground fungi delights. When they make a discovery be sure to sample some with fresh ricotta cheese — a delicious accompaniment that complements its earthy flavor. Enjoy three hours strolling through this magical forest while taking in captivating vistas and learning about Italy's history and truffle hunting techniques.

Your day wraps up with lunch at a local restaurant featuring regional products enhanced by truffle flavors. To complete your meal indulge in some Italian wine followed by coffee or grappa/amaro digestifs before heading back to your hotel.<

We suggest to catch the Freccia Rossa Fast Train from Rome Termini (departure time from Rome 7.35 am) to Naples Centrale (arrival time 8.45 am) and we will pick you up directly from the Naples train station and then.. at the end of the day tour we will drive you back in Naples where you will catch the train back to Rome.
