    Overview

The centuries-old walls of the complex, founded by the Angevins in 1279, house a veritable trove of history, art and religiosity. Within its bounds lies the beautiful Cloister of S. Giacomo with Matteo Ferrillo's Tomb and the mystery surrounding Vlad III of Wallachia, plus the grand Chapel of S. Giacomo showcasing Neapolitan nativity scenes and the majestic Baroque Church of S. Maria La Nova with its "Ascent to Calvary" fresco attributed to Bramantino.
In mid-2014, some scholars identified a possible tomb belonging to Vladd III inside the Church of Santa Maria La nova which piqued epigraphists' curiosity about what secret might be kept in Turbolo Chapel. Adding an extra layer of legendary mystique is its rich esoteric and alchemical symbolism along with strange inscriptions on its walls written in an indecipherable language - decoded via a series of codes - that may provide clues as to where Count Dracula's tomb is hidden inside...
