Overview

Anatolia and speaks a Pisidian language. With this ticket, you will have the chance to visit Sagalassos, the most important historical place in the world, boasting impressive buildings dating back to 2000 years ago. Situated 7 km north of Alasun district and 1700 meters above sea level on the slopes of Akda, Sagalassos was an influential city of the Pisidia region during the Roman imperial period. It was first discovered by French traveler Paul Lucas in 1706. The main structures are comprised of residences at entrance (in clouds), baths below, lime and metal furnaces, lower agora (marketplace), fountain and odeon, dwellings above; theatre on the right; neon library; Hellenistic fountain; ceramic production center; upper agora situated in centre of city; parliament building; church; heroon; temple as well as Cladius gate on upper left. Its inhabitants were from Pisidia people - a branch of Luwian tribes living in Western & Southern Anatolia who spoke Pisidian language.
