South Coast and Waterfalls Day Tour

Duration

clock10 hours

Overview

From Reykjavik we will make our way towards the cliffs of southern Iceland. Our first stop will be at Seljalandfoss, the famous waterfall that allows travelers to walk behind the column of water that plummets down from the cliffs above, and its impressive and surprising neighbor, Gljúfrabúi, or the ¨hidden waterfall¨, that many travelers do not visit because it does not appear in all guidebooks. In this area we will witness the effects of the famous Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that caused chaos in European air traffic in 2010.

We will continue our southern route to Skógafoss, a waterfall that measures 60 meters tall and 25 meters wide and is one of the biggest in Iceland. Here we will have the chance to enjoy the surrounding areas and climb to the highest point of the waterfall. Our next stop will be in Reynisfjara, a black-sand beach that boasts impressive basaltic rock formations and views of the famous trolls that, according to legend, were petrified when caught in the sea at sunrise.

Dyrhólaey will be our final stop of the day, and from this lookout point high above the sea we will observe interesting lava formations as well as large puffin colonies that nest here in the summer months (mid-June to mid-August).

This is a unique day tour to several spectacular sites along Iceland´s South Coast. You don't want to miss it!

Tour guided in English and Spanish (español)with stops at Seljalandsfoss, Gljúfrabúi, Skógafoss, Reynisfjara and Dyrhólaey
