Overview

This tour suitable for those who want to visit the city of Florence actively. It starts from the Ponte Vecchio and along the Arno you come to an ancient and secret staircase. From here you go up to Piazzale Michelangelo, the terrace that reveals a unique view of the Renaissance city. Piazzale Michelangelo was built in the nineteenth century as a tribute to the creativity of the great Florentine sculptor Michelangelo Buonarroti. At the center of the large square stand the nineteenth-century reproductions of the most important sculptural works of the immense Genius, including the famous David. We will continue on a further staircase to visit the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, a pearl, a Romanesque Basilica on the slope. The view of Florence from the San Miniato hill is stunning. Another place to visit in San Miniato is the Cemetery of the Holy Doors, a monumental graveyard where rests, among other great Florentines, also Carlo Collodi, the writer of the tale of Pinocchio.
