Overview

As a Peak District walker, even before I moved to the beautiful and charasmatic market town of Leek, the Roaches was a favourite haunt of mine, both for the awesome rock formation and the eerieness of the Lud's Church.
It is a great walk for escapism with views over miles of countryside. On a good day you can see as far the mountains of Wales.
Many visitors come to Leek purely to walk over the Roaches and I would love to show you a fabulous route, share my knowledge of some of the history and of course entice you with a few folk tails.
Unfortunately often walkers see these delightful rocks and find their own path, ending up scrambling dangerously up the ridge. They miss the environmental friendly pathway through the rocks, the stretches of scenic moorlands, the Doxy Pool and of course the mystique woodland way to the Lud's Church.
Plus of course, no visit is complete without a visit to the Roaches Tea Room. Their oatcakes; a local tradition, are just delicious.
    I warmly invite you
