Overview

    Tikal National Park is located deep in the Guatemalan rainforest and was once a major site of Mayan civilization. Today the site, which is composed of beautifully eroded ancient temples and palaces, is easily accessible to visitors. The park is also inside one of the world’s largest protected forest areas and is home variety of wildlife including tropical birds, monkeys, and even jaguars have been spotted occasionally.
