The city's military presence dates back to the 1800s, with stops at Kissing Point Fort, the Army museum of North Queensland, the Black Hawk Memorial, Palmetum, Lavarack Barracks and the WW2 Code breakers on French Street, among other landmarks. Want to see beyond Townsville's military sites- You can add a 2.5-hour city sightseeing tour that highlights general history, top attractions and scenic landmarks.
