This tour is specially designed for safe distancing by engaged cell phone technology between the conductor's private vehicle and the vehicles of the guests. One or two vehicles can be accommodated in this way, following the conductor who narrates stories along the tour route and also makes occasional stops. Short walks and talks are done at proper distances at select locations.
Your conductor is a former journalist, now a consulting historian and advocate for the preservation of historic sites associated with the Underground Railroad. Randolph Harris has been responsible for the research and documentation of 21 of the approximately 55 sites, programs and facilities included in the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Seven of these designated sites are visited on this walking tour of the City of Lancaster.
