Overview

Let's go to Furnas, one of the most emblematic places on the island of São Miguel. Starting at the south coast of the island, we stop at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Paz where we have a view over Vila Franca do Campo, São Miguel's first capital. In Furnas we can observe one of the active volcanoes, enjoying its impressive lagoon and boiling water boilers, where the traditional stew is made. We go to one of the most impressive botanical gardens in Europe, composed of a huge variety of plants and trees, in addition to having small lakes and streams. The great attraction of this garden is a large thermal water pool, where you can enjoy a relaxing bath. Returning to Ponta Delgada on the north coast, we will still have time for a stop not only at Pico do Ferro, where we admire the view over Furnas and the lagoon, but also at Chá do Porto Formoso, where in addition to visiting the factory, you can also enjoy with a traditional tea.
