We’ll head out to the clifftops along routes heavy with historical reverie. From the ancient fishing industry, harking back to the Romans to the ominous links with slavery, the paths we take allows one to soak up Portugal’s accumulated memories.
The trails are still somnambulant in the early mornings, with only the bucolic noises of the ocean guiding us on our way. Expect paths studded with fossilised shells and thickly edged with wildflowers. See secret coves and suss out secluded beaches.
We’ll follow historical paths, spotting lighthouses, an old hermitage and the point known as the “End Of The World” as it was known to the Romans. See sandy coves and shells fossilised into rocks. Hear salt water sizzling on the sand as the waves crash beneath us whilst we trot alongside the blissfully blue Atlantic ocean. Learn about Portuguese plants and produce as we’ll forage for fruit from the trees and sample seasonal produce along the way.
