You will arrive a day before the safari begins, and spend a night in a hotel or lodge in Maun and then start your safari fresh in the morning the next day. Your safari covers Makgadikgadi National Park and the Okavango Delta. Makgadikgadi National Park lies southeast of the Okavango Delta surrounded by the Kalahari Desert. The Makgadikgadi Pan is a salt pan situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana, and is one of the largest salt flats in the world. Very little wildlife exist here during the harsh dry season of strong hot winds and only salt water, but following a rainy season the pan becomes an important habitat for migrating animals including wildebeest and one of Africa's biggest zebra populations, Flamingos and the large predators that prey on them.
