Dallas Fort Worth Airport can be found roughly half way between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, around 25 miles from either. It is northwest of Dallas itself, but with good connections by road and rail. The airport is one of the busiest and largest in the world, encompassing more than 28 square miles of land, and having 5 major Terminal buildings located around a central hub.
The most important thing to remember about renting a car in Dallas is that there are typically quite long distances to drive from the city in order to get to any of the major places of interest nearby. It is a two hour drive from the centre of the city out to the area where the TV show Dallas was filmed in the 1980s. It?s advisable to book a full-size or SUV 4x4 as your Dallas Hire Car in order to ensure that you have a vehicle that is comfortable on longer drives, and by booking in advance you can usually save money on the price of your rental package.
In each Terminal there is a car hire desk that provides information about the location of the actual rental companies, but rather than having separate desks in each Terminal arrivals hall, you will find all of the car hire companies located at a dedicated rental centre which is at the south entrance to the airport just past the Terminal E entry hall. The building is served by a regular shuttle bus service from all the Terminal s, and offers desks for 10 rental companies: Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget , Dollar, Enterprise , EZ Rent-a-Car, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.
From the centre of Dallas, first head west out of the historic district on Route 30 for two miles before joining I77 north west. At Cardinal Family Village, you change onto the 114, which continues in the same direction for around 9 miles before you arrive at the junction with the InternationalParkway road that goes through the middle of the airport complex.
