Antonio B Won Pat International Airport is the main entry into Micronesia, and is located just outside Guam?s capital Agana. As a hub serving much of the Pacific, Guam International Airport is actually the ninth busiest hub for United Airlines, and also a major transit point for Continental. The island of Guam is located around 2000 miles east of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean, and is no more than 40 miles long from north to south. The airport is located on the west coast of the island, roughly equidistant between Tamuling and Mangilao.
Although Guam is a relatively small island in the Pacific, the infrastructure has been developed along typical American lines, with great emphasis given to providing excellent public roads to support cars. Hiring a car in Guam gives you the ability to explore the island at your own pace and takes away any reliance on public transport or taxi services, which can sometimes be patchy away from the main city centres and most popular hotels.
Car hire desks at Guam International Airport are located in the West Terminal building arrivals hall just after baggage reclaim. Nissan, National, Hertz, Budget , and Avis all have desks at the airport which are staffed 24 hours a day.
The road network in Guam is relatively straightforward, with a single coastal road covering the entire coast of the island, and then a small number of cross island roads to make getting from one side to the other as quick as possible. From Agat near the main US military facilities, you would simply head north along the coastal route 4 direct to the airport. From Injaran or Taledo, you should again head north along the coast road to Tago Bay where you head inland to Mong Mong, at which point you would join the west coast section of the island?s ring road, and this will take you north about one mile to the airport.
