Squamish is a community located at the north end of Howe Sound. It is a district municipality in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Forestry was a principal industry in Squamish but the terminal of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway that was constructed in the 1910s brought a major face-lift to the city. Marked by the typical charm of a small village, it was not unusual for most visitors to pass through the community to other bustling areas. However, recent developments in the community has opened it up to be a place for adventure and serene relaxation as its prominent features, rivers, trails and mountains are mega tourist magnets. These attraction sites include the Stawamus Chief, Alice Lake, Britannia Mine Museum, Howe Sound, Squamish River, Gondola, among others. Attraction tickets and passes are available for Sea to Sky Gondola rides.
A trip to Paradise Valley is a bump free ride as visitors ply the route in Squamish bus tours. The downstream flow of the Cheakamus river is a locale for fun rafting and floating sail during sightseeing tours in Squamish. Hanging glaciers and cascading waterfalls make for excellent sites for water sports activities to the adrenaline junky. As Howe Sound's winds blow through one's hair with the captivating views of the Coastal and Tantalus mountains in the background, the essence of Squamish is caught during cultural tours.
