Which airport is most suitable for me?

How close to Paris City and Top Paris Attractions?

This is the most prominent of all airports in Paris.

The airport is well connected from different parts of Paris by RER trains, buses, and shuttle services.

It takes around 1 hour to reach the city centre where all the major attractions are located.

Orly Airport is situated south of Paris and is the closest airport from Paris.

It takes around 45 minutes to reach the city centre where all the major attractions are located.

It is situated very far from the city centre.

It is suitable for budget travellers as many low cost flights operate from this airport. But also keep in mind the cost of reaching Paris from the airport.

Flight Fares The flight fares are usually higher in CDG than Orly Airport and Beauvais Airport. The flight fare for Orly Airport, on an average, is 20% lower than the CDG. On many occasions, it is equal to the flight fares in CDG. Since Beauvais Airport operates mainly low cost airlines like Ryan Air, flight fares are much cheaper. It is usually 30% lower than the CDG Airport, and sometimes even half of it.
Cost Factor

CDG Airport is the primary airport of Paris. This is the reason that although the average hotel prices are higher than other airports, it offers a much wider range of hotels- from affordable hostels to luxury hotels.

Considering the flight fares, car hire costs, and hotel costs, choosing the CDG Airport may be slightly expensive than the Orly Airport and Beauvais Airport.

Orly Airport is the best suited airport in Paris for business travellers as it is nearer to the city centre. Since it is not as busy as the CDG Airport, security and flight delays are also lower.

Most travellers recommend Orly Airport if the flight fare is comparable or lower than the CDG Airport. This is because it is a smaller airport and has lesser delays. It is also easier to move from one terminal to another.

Although the hiring a car from Orly Airport is slightly more expensive, it has options for cheaper hotels. This makes it a better choice than the other two airports.

Although the flight fare to Beauvais Airport is very low, the cost of reaching Paris from the airport is high. It also takes a lot of time to reach the airport from Paris (2-3 hours), which may not be suitable for many people.

Car hire cost is a bit lower, but the hotel costs are high since there are not many choices for hotels. Overall, choosing the Beauvais Airport is only worth if you get a really good flight deal and you have some extra time to spare.

Beauvais is the furthest away at a distance of 42.9 miles, this last airport is the one that most budget airlines use. It does not have a direct train service, the fastest journey time taking an hour and a half into central Paris which can make it quite inconveniant.

What is the best airport to fly into in Paris?

Orly airport is the best airport to fly into when travelling to Paris whether that's for business or pleasure, as a solo traveller or with family. This is due to its close proximity to the city center (passengers can be looking up at the Eiffel Tower in just 20 minutes) and its good public transport links by bus and train though the necessary transfer between OrlyVal shuttle train and RER Line B is a slight inconvenience, especially for those travelling with a lot of luggage and/or young children. Orly airport is smaller than CBD which means less queuing and less crowds though does restrict the number of airlines and destinations served. Orly airport is served by Air France as well as KLM, Norwegian, Easyjet, and other airlines with flights to a limited number of top cities around the world. It has fast train, tram, and bus links into the center of Paris as well as regular shuttles to Disneyland Paris.

CBD (Rossy Charles de Gaulle airport) is the main airport in Paris and the whole of France and serves all of the top airlines with short haul and long haul flights all around the world. Airlines include Air France, British Airways, United Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar, Ethihad and so many more. It's further away from the city center making journey times to Paris slightly longer but it does benefit from fantastic transport services whether you use the train, tram, or bus to reach the city center, Disneyland Paris, or elsewhere in France. The size of the airport and terminals can be daunting, and delays and queues should be expected.

Beauvais airport is the furthest away from the city center, and generally the most inconvenient airport to fly into or out of since journey times can take in excess of 1.5 hours and there is no on-site train station, a shuttle bus needing to be caught to reach Beauvais railway station. Beauvais is primarily served by budget airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air with European destinations. It's a good airport for people who have a lot of time but not a lot of money such as students and backpackers but is a real inconvenience for business travellers. If considering Beauvais airport, make sure to number crunch and take into consideration the relatively high cost of reaching the city, even on public transport, due to the distance that must be covered.

Is Orly airport better than CDE?

Generally yes, Orly can be considered better than Charles de Gaulle for all passengers due to it being closer to the city center which means less time to transfer. Orly is also smaller with 2 terminals versus Charles de Gaulle's 3 (huge) terminals. It might service less airlines and therefore fewer destinations but this means less people, smaller queues at immigration, less delays, and generally isn't as overwhelming as CDG. When given the choice between Orly or Charles de Gaulle airport, people usually opt for the ease of Orly.

Which airport is closest to the Eiffel Tower in Paris France?

If you have a layover in Paris you may be wondering if you have time to visit the Eiffel Tower. Orly is the closest airport to the Eiffel Tower, located 13 miles (21.4km) away by road and from here it's very possible to visit the Eiffel Tower.

The Line 1 Shuttle is the fastest way to travel between Orly Airport and the Eiffel Tower with a journey time of just 20 minutes during off peak hours or about 45 minutes during peak hours. The shuttle departs every 30 minutes and costs €18. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or Uber which will take about 37 minutes based on good traffic conditions.
