Tenerife has two airports to choose between - the North Airport and the South Airport. They are served by different airlines, but if you have a choice it is best to choose the one closet to your main destination like Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos, Santa Cruz De in the north or the south of the island. Both have good transport links, but you will save time and money by choosing the closer one!

This depends greatly on where you'll be staying on the island and also which airline you're flying with and from where as both airports are international airports.
The North airport is closest to the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz and handles mostly domestic flights between the Canary islands and Spain along with some other European flights. It's the smaller airport of the two and of most use to locals and tourists who are island hopping, travelling to mainland Spain, or flying within Europe. It's ideally located for tourists wanting to visit Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, and the Northern coastline of Tenerife. Airlines operating from the North airport include Air Europa, Alitalia, Finnair, Norwegian, Vueling and Ryanair. Due to its location, low lying damp cloud and fog often causes delays and disruptions on inter-island flights during the Winter months.
The South Airport has more dining and shopping options within the terminal and is the busier airport of the two. Located close the top tourist regions including Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and within easy reach of Aqualand Water Park and Jungle Park it handles the most flights, both scheduled and charter with shorthaul flights within Europe and long haul to the USA and Russia. Airlines include Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Thomas Cook, TUI, and others.
Both airports have just 1 terminal making both airports easy to move around and public transport links by bus to other parts of the island are readily available, particularly during the busy Summer months or you can take a taxi or rent a car.
